Biography

William (Bill) Haight is an engineering manager with over 40 years' experience in both government and industry, specializing in planning and management of major infrastructure projects in the US and internationally, to include overseas development work in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as major works in the U.S. such as the reconstruction of the World Trade Center in New York City. Bill has the following qualifications: BS General Engineering, USMA (West Point), 1981; MS Mechanical Engineering, University of Washington, 1990; MA National Security Studies, US Army War College, 2002; Registered P.E. Mechanical Engineering Comm of VA, 1993.

Bill was an army engineer officer in the Corps of Engineers from 1981 to 2010 (29 years), where he led multiple military engineering units and staffs, with multiple overseas deployments. He transitioned to the private sector in 2010 (Louis Berger; now WSP since 2019), where his work included: Chief of Party, USAID Afghan Infrastructure Rehabilitation Pgm, Kabul, 2010-12; Storm Resilience Mitigation Consultant, PANYNJ, World Trade Center 2013-14; Senior Vice President, WSP – 2014 to present, with responsibilities for: Project Manager Training and Performance for WSP’s Federal Practice; Federal Practice Risk Manager; Operations Manager for overseas development (USAID) and contingency (military) projects; and Business Development for the same.

Bill has been an adjunct professor at George Mason University teaching the Engineering Management and Ethics Course, CEIE 409, since 2016. He is a board member on George Mason's Civil Engineering Institute, on the SAME Foundation Board as a Fellow, and is an ASME member.
